This pivotal role requires a collaborative and strategic leader, dedicated to diversity, equity and inclusion, who will enhance the Foundation’s mission to enrich lives and strengthen our region through support of education at Portland Community College. Working closely with the Foundation’s Board and Staff, the College’s leadership and programs, and students and community, the Executive Director will help to ensure direct impact to the lives and equitable success of our students.

Visionary and Strategic Leader
- Able to provide a clear vision and sustainable long-range plan which is aligned with the College mission and strategic planning; Becoming trusted strategic partner to enable the PCC Foundation to be part of big comprehensive solutions for the College which create greater collective impact on equitable student outcomes and success
- Demonstrated ability to guide the Foundation’s vision and impact with clear priorities, expectations, accountability and assessment; able to provide ongoing evidence-based outcome analysis on multiple levels (including student impact and racial justice)
Fundraising, Networking and Community-Building Leader
- Proven fundraising leader with demonstrated ability to maintain and cultivate community partnerships, donor bases, and engagement with community-based advocacy groups, including strong awareness of shifts in the philanthropic landscape, and ability to understand diversity community needs
- Commitment to focus on student and community impact including internal PCC constituents
- Evidence of ability to partner with diverse internal and external stakeholders
Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Partner and Advocate
- Demonstrated leadership in ensuring that Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, and social justice are embedded in the vision, planning, decision-making, team management, and impact of the Foundation’s philanthropic work
- Committed to full engagement in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work, and to continually develop the understanding of how to demonstrate leadership and action in this area so that racial and social justice are embedded in philanthropic actions
- Understanding of the ways in which equity-mindedness and issues of representation/inclusion have shaped a paradigm shift in the field of philanthropy
- Commitment to re-imagining philanthropic efforts of the college by utilizing a more inclusive and equity-minded approach.
Foundation Team Leadership
- Collaborative team leader; able to build a confident and empowered team, and to focus on leveraging staff capabilities, strengths, and growth for greater impact
- Demonstrated ability to navigate change and uncertainty, leading the team and the organization’s operations effectively to pivot to new priorities when appropriate
- Ability to collaboratively assess and understand organizational structure and resources in order to advance the Foundation’s mission
- Commitment to balancing organizational priorities to ensure fundraising and administration have the necessary impact and demonstrated fiscal responsibility related to organizational assets
- Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills which reflect cultural competency and the ability to understand current and future student landscapes
Foundation Board Leadership
- Expertise in leading and engaging a not-for-profit, public or private board
- Knowledge of fundamental foundation governance practices and ability to guide, advise and consult with Foundation Board in these areas
- Ability to create & leverage connections between the Foundation Board and the college and its students to optimize philanthropic decisions supporting student needs
- Demonstrate the ability to build and leverage processes and relationships to increase the Foundation Board’s and Foundation Staff’s proactive engagement with donors and other community stakeholders
To be considered, your application must demonstrate these minimum qualifications. (Experience is calculated based on the start and end dates you provide multiplied by the number of hours per week worked).
- Bachelor’s degree in a field conducive to fundraising success (Note: Relevant experience may substitute for the degree requirement on a year-for-year basis.)
- Five years of professional level fundraising experience at the senior level to include the following experience in:
- Foundation Board development
- Annual giving
- Foundation and corporate relations
- Personal solicitation of major gifts
- Capital campaign planning and implementation
- Volunteer training
- Estate planning
Starting Salary Expectations
Minimum $94,229 to range midpoint of $115,430. Placement will generally not exceed the mid-point, based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
