NWPGRT is pleased to introduce Planned Giving 101 Series, a quarterly afternoon session targeted for those newer to planned giving or interested in learning the ropes in this field. Well-seasoned, senior NWPGRT members will present PG 101 topics in an informal and casual setting.
Mark your calendars for these 2017 dates in Vancouver – June 1, August 24 and November 2. The sessions will be held from 3:00-4:00 p.m. in the Esther Short Community Room, 610 Esther Street, Vancouver, Washington.
November 2 – Introduction to Life Income gifts
This session will cover a high-level introduction to life income gifts for development officers who are new to planned giving or who are looking for a refresher on how charitable remainder unitrusts, charitable remainder annuity trusts, and charitable gift annuities operate. Discussion during the presentation will include different ways to incorporate life income gifts into a general gift conversation and ways to leverage donors’ gifts using life income gifts.
About our speaker: Wendy Chou is a Sr. Philanthropic Advisor at The Oregon Community Foundation where she provides education and support to donors who seek to create funds to help the nonprofits that are important to them. She also serves as an internal consultant on structuring complex gifts for fellow Philanthropic Advisors located across the state. Wendy has previously worked at Silicon Valley Community Foundation, Kaspick and Company, Boston College, and Santa Clara University. She received her B.A. from Tufts University and J.D. from Santa Clara University School of Law.
